This article would like to suggest that those recipients capable of gaining “independence by working” should be identified and a system established to assist them in achieving this goal.    For the purposes of this study, a database containing 502 public assistance recipients in Tagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture was examined. Through a statistical analysis of this database, the following recommendations towards independence from public assistance may be made: 1) In the initial stages of public assistance, administrators and caseworkers should offer incentives to work to recipients. 2) For the sake of recipients who are single mothers, the number of day-nursery facilities should be increased in order to assist them in job-hunting and/or the procurement of work-related qualification or skills. 3) For recipients suffering from some form of addiction (e.g. drugs, gambling, alcohol), the treatment of their addiction should be prioritized}, pages = {37--50}, title = {生活保護受給者の自立阻害要因と自立支援策 -福岡県田川地区502ケースを対象とした分析より-}, volume = {19}, year = {2010}, yomi = {ナカムラ, シンスケ} }
